Mr. Emefiele gave the advice as a convocation lecture to mark the 47th convocation of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka UNN, at Princess Alexandra Auditorium of the Institution.
The CBN Governor urged the youth to be creative, innovative and hard working to enable them to become self reliant and generate employment to others.
Mr. Emefiele, said the Apex Bank had mapped out some programmes aimed at helping the unemployed to become self reliant, including provision of ₦220 billion initiative to support small and medium enterprise.
In an opening remark, the Chairman of the occasion professor Charles Soludo described the lecture as apt and expressed hope that Nigeria would overcome the economic challenges, confronting it if unemployment and corruption were addressed.
Addressing the gathering, the Vice Chancellor University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Professor Benjamin Ozumbanoted that the University had established a technology centre where students are mentored and supported to develop their innovative ideas.
The Vice Chancellor presented to Mr. Godwin Emefiele, Professor Soludo and Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, a laptop each produced by the University of Nigeria Nsukka.
